The George Foreman Grill

October 17th, 2009 ProlificMom 1 comment

George Foreman GrillThis is my George Foreman Grill.  Its the older version with the non-removable cooking plates.  I love cooking on it…..but I can’t figure out how to clean it.  If I clean it after cooking, its still too hot.  If I wait until it cools down, the food is stuck to the non-stick surface and it takes a lot of effort to clean.  It can take up to 30 minutes to clean.  If I use non-stick spray it causes a sticky buildup and the food still sticks. What am I doing wrong?

Does anyone have some good advice about how to clean a George Foreman Grill?  Please, Please, Please leave me your comments.

How to Add a Signature to Your Post

October 16th, 2009 ProlificMom 2 comments

Recently, a reader asked how I added my signature to my posts.  There are several ways to do this depending on which blogging platform you are using.  I clicked on the reader’s link to find out more about where she blogs – Blogger.  I have included instructions for both Blogger and WordPress self hosted sites.  Please be sure to read through the instructions before starting the process.

For Google Blogspot bloggers:

  1. Create your signature file and save it on your computer as a .jpg or .png (this is another tutorial for another day.) I saved mine as a .png with a transparent background.
  2. Login to your Google Blogger Blogspot account and create a new post.
  3. Upload your signature file like you are uploading a photo into a post.blogger post compose
  4. click on the Edit HTML tab at the top of your post.  This will show you the HTML code for the file you just uploaded.blogger post HTML
  5. copy the code by highlighting and press ‘Ctrl’ + ‘c’.
  6. Be sure to save your post but DO NOT PUBLISH IT.  This will ensure that your signature file is saved and accessible.
  7. Now that you post is saved.
  8. Click on your Settings tab.blogger settings
  9. Click on “formatting”
  10. Scroll to the bottom of the page.blogger post template
  11. In the box that says “Post Template” paste the code you just copied from your unpublished post.
  12. Click on the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page.
  13. Now, every time you start a new post, the signature file will show up at the top of the box.   Be sure to type your text before the image or above the code if you are typing in the HTML view.

Try it and let me know if it works for you. :-) Read more…

I Created a BLINKY!!!

MY VERY FIRST BLINKY!!

MY VERY FIRST BLINKY!!

I pride myself on my mental flexibility, natural curiosity and ability to learn and adapt to anything.  That said, I try to learn a new skill at least once a week – preferable a technical skill but any skill will do as long as it is usable.  Although I would like to learn to tie a cherry stem into a knot with nothing but my tongue.  I’m not sure what that skill is good for but it sounds like a fun party trick.

Today, I taught myself how to create a blinky all by myself.  Well, actually I read the instructions in Photoshop Elements 5.0.  It was easy and I will share it with you below.

Enjoy!  :-)

To create an animated GIF
In the Editor, place the images you want to appear in each frame of the animation on separate layers of the Layers palette. For example, to create an animation of an eye blinking, you would place an image of the open eye on one layer, and an image of the eye closed on another layer.
Choose File > Save for Web.
Note: If your image has multiple layers, you can also open the Save For Web dialog box from the Save As dialog box by choosing CompuServe GIF format and selecting Layers As Frames.
Optimize the image in GIF format.
Select Animate.
Set additional options in the Animation section of the dialog box:
Loop Continuously repeats the animation in a web browser.
Frame Delay Specifies the number of seconds that each frame is displayed in a web browser. Use a decimal value to specify fractions of a second. For example, use .5 to specify half a second.
